We are delighted to announce that our school has achieved a Science Foundation Ireland Discover Science and Maths Award! Over the past number of weeks every class in the school has been busy working on various projects and on the 21st March we held a Science Fair in the hall for all classes. There were some fantastic experiments and projects on show and it was a really enjoyable afternooon. Well done to all students for their hard work, enthusiasm and great ideas. Huge thanks to Mrs Roche for co-ordinating our application. We should receive our plaque in the next few weeks.
14 girls were selected from schools around Carlow to play in the Allianz Cumann na mBunscoil Laighean Ladies Football Blitz in St. Patrick’s College Drumcondra. Brónagh Nolan (6th Class) was selected from our school. The girls played brilliantly putting in some excellent performances throughout the and busy morning. They beat West-Meath 3.02-0.02, Dublin 3.05-2.02 and Louth 3.08-0.02 to top their group and qualify for the Division 1 Final. They lost to a very strong Meath team but acquitted themsevles very well and gained valuable playing experiences along the way. Huge congratulations and well done to all involved.

On Friday the 27th of April we learned how to make a drawbot. First we watched a tutorial on how to make a drawbot. We used a cardboard cup, 3-4 markers, tape, blue tac, rubber, 2 batteries, 2 wires and a motor. First we taped the markers onto each side of the cup, then we taped the motor onto the top of the cup. Then put the rubber on the motor so it would vibrate. We used blue tac to stick the batteries onto the cup. After that we connected the wires up from the batteries to the motor. Then you get a page and put your drawbot on it and if the wires are connected properly it should start vibrating on the page making lines, circles etc. You can draw a face or design on the cup to make it look cool but this is entirely optional. After that’s done you can have good fun with it.
